Assessment and Record Keeping
Staff will make ongoing observations of your child in order to identify the next steps in their development and what activities and experiences can be offered to help your child progress in their learning. These observations will be shared with you both informally and at set times during the year. Your observations and comments are invaluable in helping to plan the next steps for your child.
When a child is aged between 2 and 3 years, we will review their progress and provide you with a short written summary of your child's development in three prime areas. This progress check will identify the child's strengths and any areas where progress is less than expected.
Special Educational Needs
We aim to ensure that every child has access to a curriculum which is matched to their needs and abillities. We identify any additional needs a child may have as soon as they become evident and work in close partnership with parents and appropriate outside agencies to address them. We have a designated special needs co-ordinator, Cleo Jerram who monitors the progress and effectiveness of early support and intervention.
Our policy ensures that we adheres to the code of practice on special educational needs. It is felt that a child's needs cannot be met without additional support (adult or equipment) funding will be sought to ensure that provision is appropriate to the child's needs.
Equal Opportunities and Race Equality
We have a written policy on Equal Opportunities and Race Equality and actively promote equality for children, families and staff. We will always challenge discriminatory remarks or behaviour.
